I want to be able to get a broader views of the conversations around literacy and economies of literacy and produce a literature review by the end of the semester. What economic metaphors can we use to describe literacy practices in the US? What are some limits of existing frameworks in thinking about literacy? I’m particularly interested in representations and narratives of literacy by Asian American authors, especially those who use “hyper-literate” genres/forms such as experimental poetry.
